Review: Naked Basics Palette

I am obsessed with the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, but I can never justify forking over $50 for one of them *sad eyes*.

However, with the release of the new basics palette, beauty is in reach! At $27, the palette is much more reasonably priced, and in my opinion is more than enough for the perfect neutral eye.

The case is pretty and compact, but a little difficult to open.

Look at all these pretty shades! All are matte except Venus, the farthest to the left. After all, it's hard to act like you aren't wearing makeup when you have a face full of shimmer, now, isn't it?

I found the colors to be pretty pigmented even without a primer.

The Palette is lovely for creating soft neutral eyes looks.

Leave me a comment letting me know what you think about the palette!

Room Cleaning for the Organizationally Challenged

Hey lovelies!

So this is a really strange, yet hopefully helpful post to you all. I am a notoriously messy person, and cleaning my room is one of the hardest things to do. I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets overwhelmed by the mess that shows up when trying to organize, so I thought I'd share my quick way of doing it.

First, I throw absolutely everything on to my bed. Like so:
Yep, it looks pretty awful. Bear with me. The next thing I do is give my carpet a good vacuuming.
Yay!! All clean!! It was pretty gross, trust me.
Next, I start taking everything off the bed and put it back on the floor.

Yep, sounds counterproductive. Just follow along.

As I put everything back on the floor, I start putting stuff in to piles.

And that's pretty much it, after removing everything from the bed I put each pile in it's place. I hope that helped some people out!

Leave me any comments or questions below, and know you are not alone in the chaos!

xoxo Stephanie

Home for the Holidays

A Merry Christmas Eve to you all!

I've never been one for Christmas. Call me a Grinch if you will, but I'm not a big fan of it. First off, I'm allergic to pine trees and peppermint (though I do suffer the latter for love of it anyway), so I am already not off to the best start. Secondly, I really don't like Christmas music. Maybe because it gets stuck in my head, maybe because I find them insufferable. Who knows, that is the great mystery.

I do love the food though, don't get me wrong. Plus I love GIVING presents! Backwards, I know. I just love seeing the look on someone's face when they open my gift and it is PERFECT for them!

Speaking of which, if you all haven't finished your shopping yet, my heart goes out to you. Good luck hitting those crowds today, you're going to need them! I barely scratched by finishing my shopping Sunday, and that was certainly bad enough as it was.

Yep, that's a Harry Potter Ornament. Be jealous.

My mom has an obsession with collecting ornaments. There are currently three fake tress in the living room. THREE.

Madness, I tell you, sheer madness.

To those of you who may be sad today, here is a picture of my dog in a sweater to cheer you up:

I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas!!

The Perfect Nude Lips

I L-O-V-E nude lips. They are my go to, and so
much nicer looking than just a plain lip. I stand by
two of my favorites, both are under $10!

This first one is my usual every day nude pink color.
It is Revlon's Super Lustrious lipcolor in Twinkle Me
Pink. It was around $3-$4 if I remember correctly.
It has just enough sheer shine to make it a good lip
for dramatic eyes.

My second go to is Ulta's Sheer Shimmer lip color
in Apricot. It was aroun $6. It is the perfect peachy
color and it lasts for hours without fading or smudging off!

What are your go - to lip colors? Leave me a comment down below!

Galaxy Nails

I felt like doing something a little glitzy for this weekend. A traditional galaxy nail is just the opposite, not traditional! Use a white base coat and sponge colors of your choosing on to the nail. I topped it off with a chunky glitter top coat.

Happy Holidays!

Holiday Nails: Presents

Hello friends!

I felt pretty festive today and donned my nails in the same fashion. This look was done with the following products:

-Wet N Wild Megalast nail color in "On A Trip"
-NYC "matte-ing me crazy"
-various embellishments purchased from eBay.

Each of the polishes was less than $2. Make sure when using 3D embellishments to secure with nail glue or some other strong adhesive.

Let me know below if you have any questions!

Beauty on a Budget: NYC Lipstick

Hello lovelies!
Looks red, right?

I practically grew up on NYC (New York Color), it was the only way I could convince my mom to buy me any makeup. True Story. Anyway, I was perusing around WalMart the other day and found the small section for NYC products. Feeling nostalgic, I took a look. Lo and behold I found a goldmine. They've really stepped it up.
Since I have misplaced my usual red lipstick, I decided to try out "Ruby" #305

Now, the lipstick is quite shimmery and sheer, and much more pink than the color swatch would indicate

not so much, still pretty though

Overall, I really do like this color, and for a whopping 98 cents I can't really complain. I prefer more sheer colors as it is so this lipstick did justice for me.

It does label itself as a "moisturizing" lipstick, and it does live up to that -- for a while. It does have pretty good staying power even without a liner

A very pretty holiday color

I'm on a manhunt now for more cheap, snazzy colors. I will keep you all posted!

Dealing with Finals Stress

Finals.

Yep, they're here. For those of you that are already out on your way to freedom, I truly envy you. For those of us that still have a week or more left, this is for us.

Now, stress is inevitable. There is something about the end of the semester that screams "where did time go?". Well, it went here. And as much as we'd like to ignore it, it is a giant white elephant in the room. Yes, it is white. Or purple. or blue, or however else you want to look at it.

Lucky for you, there are some key ways to relieve the stress.

1) Cut out the stress and caffeine.
Gasp! You heard me, as much as you think that extra large cup of who knows what is going to help you right now, it isn't. You are going to crash, and the cycle will continue. Same goes for all those chocolaty goodies laying around the house. Just -- just don't, trust me on this. Instead, stick to fruits, veggies, and other yummy good things that will give you tons of energy to blast through those finals.

2) Do something fun.
Again, yes, I said it. "but there's no time!" you may be screaming. Well, make it. Studies have shown that a brief break from work or studying to do something enjoyable can actually help focus you. While I would advise against Facebook, Twitter, or other time sapping activities, reading a good book or giving yourself a manicure can be rejuvenating.

3) It's not the end of the world!
As hard as it may seem, finals are a small blip on the timeline that is your life. Try not to stress too much. Yes, you want to get good grades and get in to grad school, or just pass and graduate, but it is really not the end of the world. Just do your best to focus, relax, and be confident in your own knowledge.

Unless you never went to class, then I can't help you.

Good luck! Happy Studying!

OOTD: Feeding Geese

Hello lovelies!

To commemorate this weather, I've finally ventured to feed the geese. I wanted to share my comfy and cozy outfit of the day. I love boot weather!

SWEATER: The Limited
SHIRT: Forever 21
BELT: Kohls
JEANS: The Limited (softest jeans ever!)
BOOTS: Ross (great deal!)

I'm not usually that great at layering, but this was a personal challenge to look cute and professional. The older I've gotten the more I've tried to put together sophisticated outfits. It's a challenge coming from a "I'll just put a coat over my tank top in the winter" kind of girl. It's hard to find that balance between being comfy and looking stylish, but soft sweaters and shirts that are roomy are the key to being both!

Also, I have come to the conclusion that geese absolutely hate me. Watch the video below to get a good idea about just how much they do not like me. They seem so calm and carefree.

Lies, all lies. They are the epitome of evil I tell you.
