What I Wore - January

Outfit One: Tattoo tights and Skater Skirts

I am obsessed with these tights! I found it charming and a little funny that so many people thought they were Tattoos! They add a fun detail to an otherwise basic outfit.

Skirt: Plato's Closet
Top: Love Culture
Earrings/Tights: Forever 21
Flats: Target

Outfit Two: Printed Scarves and Denim Shirts

So I have to admit, I'm not usually a scarf person. But I saw this scarf at work and HAD to have it! Layering a fun scarf over a basic denim/chambray shirt is a super easy outfit maker. I've also been kind of obsessed with wearing light brown boots with black pants, who says you can't wear black/brown!

Scarf: Kimichi and Blue
Shirt: JC Penny's
Jeans: Forever 21
Boots: Leather boots from Plato's Closet

Outfit Three: Shorts and Boots for Winter

So my manager is the queen of wearing shorts in the winter, and I never could pull it off until I scored these awesome twill shorts on sale! I'm also wearing nude tights to add an extra layer of warmth. I loved this outfit it felt very preppy chic.

Top/Shorts/Boots: Forever 21
Bag: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Plato's Closet
Tights: Target

New Year-New Goals

Resolutions. It's kind of a dirty sounding word, isn't it? And don't we always make them with the thought at the back of our minds that we will only come to break them? That's why this year I've decided to focus more on having goals than steadfast resolutions. I also feel that sharing these goals with the world is going to make me accountable *gulp* so here goes nothing:

Goal 1: Blog More

While this may seem obvious, I want to make a point to blog more this coming year. Not just about fashion, but about life in general. There are so many experiences that can be shared! I hope to have a plump and exciting blog by the end of this next year.

Goal 2: Career

This year I will graduate. Whether it is in the Spring or the Fall remains to be seen, but it will happen. I want to spend more time focusing on my future career as an interpreter. This includes investing more time into my internship and socializing in the Deaf community.

Goal 3: Travel

With the end of this coming year, my free travel benefits will also expire. I have been strongly considering taking the Fall semester off so that I can travel on my own and see the world the way I want to see it. In the future I do not want to look back and regret not taking advantage of the opportunity while I could. Traveling on the extreme cheap will hopefully be an eye opening experience.

What are your goals for 2014? Share them below!

XOXO Stephanie

Casual Work Outfit

Hello Dolls!

So lately I have been obsessed with finding ways to dress down the many LBDs that I have laying around in my closet. My new favorite: Layering a flannel shirt and adding a pair of boots.

Casual Work Outfit

I Love the versatility of this outfit. Removing the flannel gives the outfit instant class and night-out versatility. This is a great go-to for a busy day of work followed by a night on the town. It's hard to tell, but I was wearing a pair of sheer tights from Target and they kept my legs warm and made them look flawless! I will definitely be revisiting this look soon with different combinations.

How to Style: Shorts in the Fall/Winter

With the unpredictable California weather, it can be difficult to pick an appropriate outfit for the day. Whether or not you're soaking up the Californian sun or live in another unpredictable climate, shorts can be the perfect fall/winter outfit go-to.

Wait, SHORTS?! I know, I can hear the outcry now. But in reality, as crazy as it sounds, the right pairing can make shorts not only cute but comfortably warm for the season.

This outfit was inspired by my manager, who first introduced me to the shorts with tall boots trend. I always told her I didn't think I could pull it off because my legs are so long. The solution? Thigh high socks!

Pairing a dark pair of shorts in cotton or heavyweight material with a heavy sweater is the best balance. While I've seen some pull of denim shorts, they just scream "summer" too much for my liking. These black lace shorts are adorable and ultra comfy. These are from Lush but were purchased at Plato's Closet for a mere $10! Score!

My wrap sweater and boots are from Forever 21, but I also bought the sweater at Plato's Closet for only $16.

The key to making this outfit work is to show as little skin as possible. When my manager wears this ensemble she wears knee high socks, which look ultra cute on her. Unfortunately, my legs are just a tad long to pull that off. So adding thigh high socks cuts down on the amount of skin and makes the look much more seasonly appropriate. Switching up sock colors can add some extra detailing (think grays  plums, and other jewel tone fall colors)

What do you guys think of this pairing? I think anyone can pull it off with the right amount of balance. Believe me, I tried on several sweaters before I found one that worked.
